Amazon Smart Plug Review: One Less Reason to Get Out of Bed

Personally Tested • Early Impressions

My bed is high. Once I’m comfortable, climbing back out because I forgot to turn off the lamp gets old fast.

Before getting my Amazon Smart Plug, I’d either get up or reach for my phone to control the light through the Govee app. Now I just ask Alexa. No finding my phone, opening an app, or making another trip out of bed.

It’s a small convenience, but it solves something that annoyed me every day.

Easy setup—and a name I can remember

Setting it up was very easy. You can name the plug in the Alexa app, then use that name when asking Alexa to turn it on or off.

So far, it’s worked reliably for me. I haven’t had connection problems or found anything I dislike.

What I’ve actually tested

I bought two plugs and currently use one for my bedroom lamp. These are my early impressions of that setup; I haven’t tested a whole house full of them.

My take

I like this plug because it makes an ordinary task easier. Once I’m settled in bed, being able to ask Alexa to handle the lamp is enough to make me appreciate it.

My only problem so far? Now I want more of them.
